whos this?

Wassup! I'm VORBiTAL, the person running the site. I'm a mex-american artist specializing in character and graphic design with a colorful but sharp look.

I mainly take inspo from things like video games, anime, music vids, etc and I also like to make things in many mediums (2d, 3d, and music to be specific.)

why a website?

I was always obsessed w how big the internet is and how unique and stylish websites can be since forever. And when i found out abt the indie web and neocities around 2022 I KNEW I had to make one (you can learn more abt that thru the megablog i did).

another reason i wanted to make a site is because i wanted to have a place where i could freely post my stuff w/o having to worry abt the bs that social media puts onto you (shitty algorithms, companies tryna capitalize on the internet, ai slop, yknow).

Should I make a website?

Honestly this whole websites the coolest shit i've worked on so far and im begging anyone who's even a little interested to at least try making one. This website was made 1000% free on Neocities and its pretty simple to get a grasp on html. Yall would be surprised how easy it is to code all this lol

You can go to the links page to see what i used for the site but heres some tips for site building.

TIP #1. PLAN

Before you even do anything please plan out everything for your site. It doesnt matter if u already got a vision in your mind even a shitty lil ms paint sketch goes a long way.

TIP #2. START SMALL

(i know damn well i should know this if youve seen my site megablog).

yea speaking from experience trying to cram in every single idea youve got all at once is just generally a bad idea and at best burns you out from site building. I reccomend only starting with pages you NEED at the start

(ex: if you wanna make a site around art, make the art page a huge priority to finish). The more crazy features of your site can come later. Just remember to start small.

TIP #3. REFERENCES N INSPO

this onces important especially if u wanna make your site with a set style. looking at other people's sites and even looking at old ones is a great way to visualize what you want out of your site. one site i highly reccomend is the Web Design Museum.

TIP #4. SHIT TAKES TIME

Like with any hobby or passion, learning site building and html takes time. It might take a bit to get a grasp and thats ok.

my site used to be WAY more barebones back then but i eventually started to learn more and more things like custom fonts, div containers, image hyperlinks, etc. It's all just a matter of practice!

And yea thats abt it. Again this sites prob the coolest thing i've worked on and its just amazing to see something i made 100% by myself.

If you also want a central hub for whatever you're doing, or just wanna get away from the core web (twitter, insta, etc), Making your own website is a great alternative!

SO CMON AND MAKE ONE ALREADY!!!

(god the internet's so fucking cool.)
